Party Down is a time management game in which you are a part of a catering team that must provide famous people from Hollywood with the best possible service. The characters are real celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears, Victoria and David Beckham, among others. They look similar to the real ones and they have distinctive dancing movements and also different levels of popularity. Your goal is to keep the guests happy by doing what they ask you to do. Your tasks will mainly include taking them to the dance floor, serve them drinks and food, make them chat, fend off the paparazzi, among others.
To move the characters, you have to drag them to specific locations and drop them there. You must be precise with your clicks or the character will return to the previous position. For each level you have a certain time and you must do everything in your power to keep the celebrities satisfied until time runs out. For everything you do, you get money, and depending on the money raised and your overall performance, you get a gold, silver, or bronze medal. Some parts of the game are really challenging, and you will find yourself doing several things at the same time, while others are completely slow and somewhat boring.
In between the levels, there are also funny and interesting mini-games that include hidden object games and puzzles that contribute to the general creativity of the game.
The graphics are great and the music is suitable for this type of game. However, I found the controls really annoying. The dragging feature must be very precise; it is really frustrating when you have to do several things at the same time. Also, the waitress is pretty slow and this is not good for a supposedly fast-paced game.
All in all, Party Down offers creative and original twists for the genre. It is enjoyable and long enough to keep you playing for a while.
